A Tragic Event but Community Comes Together for Carthage Nursing Home Memorial

    Monday, April 20, 2009, 04:57 AM [Other]

Family, friends and people from Carthage, Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen and surrounding areas all arrived to pay their respects to the 8 victims and their families of the Pinelake Health and Rehab rampage. The memorial held Sunday was meant to help heal, and that is what it was doing.

Officer Justin Garner was presented with a plaque for ending the violence on that tragic Sunday morning. A bell was sounded for each victim and the flag is at half staff.

I can not speak for all, only for myself and a handful of others we are thinking of the families of the victims and keep them in our prayers. Avant, the nurse who used his body to shield those who could not help themselves, we thank God he was there. We thank God for Officer Justin Garner who arrived so quickly and responded as he was meant. We thank God that he lives to tell the story and continue with the every day duty of living.

We Thank all who pray with us in hope and faith that America stays strong and proud!
